To help avoid a Valentine's Day disaster
DOs
- First impressions are important - do your best to look good and be yourself.
- Do try to make your Valentine feel comfortable.
- Do arrive on time.
- Do something different, but not too different!
- Do use mouthwash & deodorant to mask those unpleasant odours you're famous for.
- Do try to be a bit romantic.
- Do discuss their interests as well as your own.
- Do keep the conversation flow going.
- Do laugh at his/her jokes.
- Do respect and respond to your date's wishes.
- Focus and listen to your date's conversation without interruption.
- Thank the other person for the date. It's just human kindness.
DON'Ts
- Don't tell your partner about that perfect present you almost bought them.
- Don't give the same Valentines card you gave last year.
- Don't overdress - you're not getting married!
- Don't wax lyrical about your previous 'conquests'.
- Dont forget to wear clean underwear.
- Don't tell your date you forgot your wallet again.
- Don't leave your date alone with your parents, flatmates or pet.
- Don't order the clam chowder - we have it on good authority it's been around too long.
- Don't buy your partner household appliances for Valentine's Day.
- Don't wipe your nose on your sleeve.
- Don't give your partner an engagement ring that was meant for someone else!
- Dont club baby fur seals.
